After the debate, we will have a meeting where we’ll choose a new board for the debating society for the upcoming year.We couldn’t organize the meeting two weeks ago for constitutional reasons, so we shall have it this Tuesday.
After the formalities we will continue the evening in the downstairs bar.

Tomorrow we will have our regular weekly debate starting at 18.30 in Cajsa (The New Student Building, Mannerheimintie 5 B, 4th floor). The motion will be announced 15 minutes before the debate.
After the debate we will have a meeting where we’ll choose a new board for the society for the next year. We especially want to encourage the new members to join us. Being on the board is not a lot of work, but it gives you the chance to influence the things we’ll get to do in the near future.
After the meeting the evening can continue in a nearby bar.

We just want to remind you of our introductory debate, which will take place on Tuesday 27th of September at the main building of the Aalto University School of Economics (Address: Runeberginkatu 14-16) in room A 401. We will start the introduction at 18.30.
Our purpose is give you an idea about what British Parliamentary Style debating is like, and naturally we will also leave a plenty of time for conversation and questions.
This invitation is an open one, so anyone who is interested in debating and in meeting new people is more than welcome.
So please bring your friends, cousins, professors or any like-minded people and come have a look on Tuesday.
Starting from this fall, we will also have another debating society here in Helsinki. The students of the Aalto University became intrigued by debating and decided to put up their own organization. Hence the Aalto Debating Society was born!
On Friday 23rd of September they will have an open introductory debate for people interested in debating. The meeting will take place at KY-Talo (Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu 21B, 3rd floor) at 17.00. They will be serving some free drinks and snacks.
We want to extend this invitation to all the students and the non-students, who are interested in finding out what British Parliamentary Style debating is really about. So bring your friends and relatives with you, and join us on Friday!

Leaves are slowly starting to fall and it is time to get back to campus. The debating society will also have an exciting autumn ahead.
On Monday 5th of September we will be representing ourselves at the university’s opening carnival at Porthania (Yliopistonkatu 3). We will be there from 2 o’clock until 6 o’clock. The rumor has it that some of us might even show our faces at HYY’s party the same evening.
Quite soon we will also organise a show debate for the new and the old students who are interested in debating but don’t really know what it’s all about. We’ll post information about this soon!
Another interesting idea for this fall came from Oulu. We got an email from their debating society suggesting that we should host a debating tournament in Finland. We think that this is a fantastic idea and we’ll post more when we know more!
